UK Dance Shows To See This Autumn / Winter 2023
With the festive season just around the corner we thought we would share with you some wonderful winter shows and dance companies that are touring the UK to bring you joy.
There is nothing more wonderful in our opinion than heading to the theatre. Getting dressed up, that feeling of excitement and of course that buzz you get when the lights go down and the music begins.
This post highlights some up and coming shows that would make a great night out or perhaps if you know someone who loves dancing as much as you do, a fabulous Christmas gift?
Ballet Boyz - England On Fire - Sadler’s Wells, London, 8th - 11th November 2023
Ten musicians, one rock band and thirteen dancers come together in the company’s most ambitious project to date.
Inspired by the book England On Fire by Stephen Ellcock and Mat Osmsn, this performance searches for meaning amid the challenges of the modern and ancient worlds.
Sonia Sabri company - Roshni - Birmingham Hippodrome, Birmingham, 9th November 2023
Roshni, from the Persian word meaning light or brilliance is set to dazzle you. A beautifully intimate performance fusing Kathak dance from northern India and live music to create a magically uplifting performance. Kathak is a movement language that incorporates foot percussion, spiralling spins and turns, geometrical patterns and poignant mime.

Tom Dale Company returns to the stage with two dance pieces in an immersive, audio-visual, genre-breaking performance. The company weaves you seamlessly through a mix of new British electronic music. Be prepared to be on the edge of your seat in delight.
National Dance Company Wales - Pulse - Wales Millenium Centre, Cardiff, 21st - 23rd November 2023
The National Dance Company Of Wales perform two thrilling pieces that are sure to get your pulses racing. The first a haunting waltz and the second a visual feast for the eyes that incorporates vocal beatboxing.
Scottish Ballet - Cinders! - Theatre Royal, Glasgow, 9th - 31st December 2023
This exciting new portrayal of the classic fairytale Cinderella sees the Scottish Ballet surprising the audience with each performance. As the curtain rises, on some nights Cinders will be a woman, swept off her feet by her Prince and on other night Cinders will be a man swept off his feet by his Princess. This is extra exciting for us as Principal dancer and friend of Ballet Fusion, Bethany Kingsley-Garner will be performing in this production!
Dancing In A winter Wonderland With Aljaž and Janette - Touring the UK, 21st November to 19h December 2023
Strictly Come Dancing’s stars Aljaž and Janette return to the stage with their toe-tapping brand new show that is jam-packed with dances choreographed to the very best Christmas anthems. The perfect Christmas family treat.
Varna International Ballet - The Nutcracker - Bristol Hippodrome, Bristol, 5th January 2023
The critically acclaimed Varna International Ballet return to the UK with the most famous of festive fantasy ballets. When the clock chimes at midnight on Christmas Eve be prepared to be whisked away to a fairytale world where nothing is quite what it seems!
If you can’t get to the theatre, why not enjoy a classical ballet streamed directly from the Royal Opera House to a cinema near you this season?
Live in cinemas: Don Quixote - Cinemas nationwide, 7th to 12th November 2023
One of our favourite ballets here at Ballet Fusion HQ. And it doesn’t come better than Carlos Acosta’s production. Teeming with comedy, wit and an abundance of bravura choreography, Acosta's production brings the Spanish heat and romance of Cervantes' classic novel to life.
Live in cinemas: The Nutcracker - Cinemas nationwide, 12th to 17th December 2023
Marvel at the brilliance of Tchaikovsky’s score, as Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker fight the Mouse King and visit the Sugar Plum Fairy in the glittering Kingdom of Sweets.
We hope these dazzling dance treats give you some inspiration for the festive season. Of course we have barely touched the tip of the iceberg here as there is SO much out there to see. Check out your local theatres for more. Perhaps your local dance school might be showcasing their talented students? It’s always a joy to celebrate young talent.
