get to know ballet fusion instructor tara smith

Get to know Ballet Fusion instructor Tara. Tara teaches lots of our online classes and is a firm favourite amongst Ballet Fusion dancers.

Hi Tara, so nice to chat to you today! Let’s crack on with the questions…

Where do you live?

I live in Exeter

When did you first start dancing?

Age of 10 when my friend said I should give it a try. It looked like fun so off I went. Never looked back.

Who is your favourite dancer?

I adore Natalia Osipova. She is so dynamic and adaptable. One minute she dances as a vulnerable swan,  then she is a powerful strong Kitri in Don Quixote.

Which is your favourite style of dance?

Classical ballet

Which is your favourite Ballet Fusion class to teach?

Difficult choice. I love Posture & Alignment, as well as any of the Classic, Quickie or Pure Ballet classes.

Do you have a favourite ballet?

Spartacus.I love the score and the powerful male lead.

What other exercise do you do?

I walk everywhere and teach barre classes 3 times a week. That is on top of my own adult ballet classes and RAD syllabus classes for two local schools. Put it this way; I am always moving.

What’s a skill you would like to learn?

Something creative and practical like dress making.

Tell us something people might not know about you

I have a keen passion for cooking and write a blog about my foodie experiences. I also write a column for Exeter Living Magazine.

What’s your favourite movie?

I don’t have a favourite but I do love cheesy 80’s films.

What’s your favourite food?

Anything Mediterranean

Where would your dream holiday be?

Italy - anywhere there. I find each region so different.

What is your spirit animal?

Cat (you can see Tara’s cats appear in some of our online classes. So cute 🥰 )

What should we watch?

Stranger Things, Schitts Creek, Wednesday, Love Life, Ginny & Georgia.
