Ballet Fitness Studio Class FAQs
Studio Ballet Fusion Class FAQ quick links
What do I wear to class?
Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing to class. Yoga or gym leggings are great as your instructor will want to see your legs and posture throughout the class. You can of course wear leotard and tights if you want to get in the ballet mood :)
Do I need ballet shoes?
If you are new to class you will be fine in bare feet or jazz shoes. We don’t recommend wearing socks as we never know how slippery the studio floors might be. Once you’ve been to a few classes and are comfortable, we suggest buying a pair of soft ballet shoes. You can get ballet shoes online of from your local dance shop and they shouldn’t be too much - somewhere between £8 and £15 usually.
Do I need to understand French?
No! We do use some french terms during class but your instructor will demonstrate and explain throughout. You are also welcome to ask if you are unsure of anything. Get to grips with our blog post about the basic ballet positions for beginners.
Is there parking at the studios?
All our Devon studios have free parking on-site. Our London studios do not have parking but are close to multiple tube stations and bus stops. See our Locations page for more info.
Will the studio be warm or cold?
All our studios have air conditioning so your instructor will do his or her best to make sure the studio is the perfect temperature. We recommend wearing a light layer to warm up in which you can remove once your muscles start to get warm.
How do I pay?
You can pay by card or paypal through our booking system - accessible via our Timetable pages. Book and pay for our adult ballet fitness classes via our London Timetable or Devon Timetable page.
Can I just turn up / drop in to class?
We don’t encourage drop-ins as we can’t guarantee that there will be space in class. The best way to guarantee your space is to book via our website.
Can I come to Ballet Fusion if I’ve never done ballet before?
Yes. We welcome people who are new to ballet every week. Ballet Fusion exercises are based on basic ballet principles and we work in other core and balance exercises to build strength so exercises are easy to pick up and follow along.
Do you offer private adult ballet lessons?
We do offer private adult ballet lessons. Private sessions are £40 and last for one hour. Each private session will be tailored to your fitness and technique goals so we’ll have a chat with you before your first booking to find out what you want to focus on and achieve. Find out more about our private adult ballet lessons here.
Do you offer any other adult dance classes?
We focus solely on adult ballet fitness classes so we don’t offer any other classes at present.
Can I wear pointe shoes?
We don’t allow people to wear pointe shoes during class as our classes are focussed purley on ballet fitness. If you would like to focus on pointe work, we recommend a private session so that your instructor can tailor a class suited to pointe work and technique.
How do I book a class?
You can book classes via our adult ballet timetable pages. See our London timetable and Devon timetable.
Is there somewhere I can get changed at the studio?
All our classes are held in professional studios or leisure centres with dedicated dance studios. Changing facilities are available - including showers, lockers and amenities such as hairdryers.
Do you offer any discounts?
We offer discounts for block booking of classes and occasional special offers. View our offers page for our current special offers and discounts.
Do classes stop for summer and half terms?
As we teach adults, we don’t stop for school holidays. We occasionally close for a week or two in the summer but we try to avoid this where possible. Ballet Fusion classes do not run over the Christmas and New Year period. Your instructor will inform you of any dates classes won’t be run. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates too.
Do you offer different level classes?
Most Ballet Fusion classes are for all levels. We keep exercises simple to follow and focus on toning, balance and strength building. Your instructor will sometimes offer exercise variations to make exercises harder or easier.
Is there a minimum or maximum age limit for classes?
Minimum age for classes in 18. We have no maximum age and welcome adults of all ages to our adult ballet fitness classes :)
Can I have a ‘taster’ class?
We are delighted to offer you a taster class if you’ve never tried Ballet Fusion before. To request a free taster class, drop us an email on hi@balletfusion.co.uk or complete the taster class request form on this page.

Why are London adult ballet classes more expensive than Devon classes?
